Sports Injuries
Injuries can occur when playing sports and these affect joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. These injuries may be accompanied by bleeding, bruising, swelling and pain.
Treatment for Sports Injuries should be immediate. If there are no broken bones it is best to take the weight off the area and apply ice for ten minute periods over the next 24 hours. The affected area should be raised and compressed by a bandage, and taking painkillers or anti-inflammatory drugs might help, as might having physio-therapy or ultrasound.
Resume gentle movement as long as it is no longer painful.
Tip: the best way to avoid Sports Injuries is to warm up gently before playing any sports or taking any exercise, and finish off with stretching exercises to cool down afterwards.
