4 Reasons to Support Your Employees With a Health MOT

As we prepare for a new year, there’s no better time to look ahead, complete a Health MOT and ensure your team has everything in place to help them thrive.

You’ve likely started to put together a business strategy, new goals and KPIs, but have you considered what you can do to better support wellbeing?

Here are four reasons to support your employee’s well-being with a Health MOT.

1. Give them an overview of their current health.

Completing a Health MOT helps a person gain a clear overview of their current state of health and wellbeing.

By understanding their current health, employees can choose to take action to improve and identify any areas that may cause issues in future. It can also give extra peace of mind, as they can start the new year knowing that they’re in good health or having clarity on any ‘unknowns’ they might have had.

2 Get an early indication of underlying health conditions.

A Health MOT can help identify any underlying, undiagnosed health conditions or concerns before they generate symptoms or the person’s health deteriorates. For example, urinalysis can identify diabetes along with kidney issues.

Identifying a health concern early means the person can get help to create a plan of action, whether treatment from a relevant healthcare professional or ongoing support. These steps can help minimise the chances of healthcare issues developing further, so the person stays well and reduces the chances of future sick leave.

3 Identify areas where you can offer more support.

If your team share their health MOT results with you, you may notice some common concerns or areas for improvement, which your business can help rectify.

Suppose your team are more aware of their health conditions and share information with you. In that case, you will be able to identify any health conditions that your team need further training in or that you could raise awareness of within your business (such as implementing health initiatives such as gym memberships or OH support services).

If you understand how to support an employee dealing with a health concern, and your team are better educated about it. In that case, it’s likely that people will feel more comfortable and perform better.

4 Help your team work at their best

Ultimately, by having your team complete a Health MOT, you can enable them to take action where needed and support them to work to the best of their ability.

Think of it this way. It’s far more likely that a well-informed and supported team will outperform a team who’s in the dark about their health and needs.
